The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.

But this year, as demonstrations throughout the Middle East have actually risen the rate of oil, the issue of sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing profitable too, currently their client-list includes McDonald's.
